ARRIVE IN KAMPALA

Welcome to Africa!

After a long flight, you will be greeted right outside the immigration area by your Outskirt Safari Luxury Adventures guide.  In your private Landcruiser, you begin your journey to the center of Uganda’s capital - Kampala City. Along the way, stop in a shopping center to convert money and purchase any essentials.

Next, check into your luxury hotel and take some time to relax.  Before dinner, meet your guide in the lobby for the tour briefing. During this briefing you will receive valuable information about your adventure, maps, complete schedules and other details.

After the tour briefing, enjoy the included fine cuisine dinner in your hotel!

AN ADVENTURE IN JINJA

After breakfast, the morning journey begins via the famous Kampala Jinja highway. Highway only in name, the road winds through several small African villages and towns.  As you observe the scenery around you, your guide will discuss the day’s adventure options. You will be spending your day in Jinja, Uganda, the unique place where the Nile river meets Lake Victoria.  In this mini adventure capital of Uganda, you can choose from a variety of activities.

The most popular adventure in Jinja is the white-water rafting.  In the Nile’s class five rapids you’ll be guided by an experienced team.  Try your best to balance and stay dry! If rafting is not your cup of… water, how about an all-terrain vehicle adventure?  Known as “quad trekking” in British circles, even if you’ve never driven on an ATV before, this is a fun option. We will teach you everything you need to know for an ultimate 1 to 4-hour adventure.  Mountain biking is a popular Jinja, Uganda activity too. Mountain biking is also popular in Jinja! If these activities aren't of interest, enjoy a nature walk and cultural visit!

At the end of the day, dine with the spectacular views of the Nile River. End the day in your luxury hotel in Jinja!

RHINO RESERVE & MURCHISON FALLS

After breakfast in Kampala, begin your journey to Uganda’s Murchison Falls National Park.  About halfway to the park you will meet some of the rarest animals in the world. Today you’ll stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

This special reserve was established to give the ultimate protection to the critically endangered White Rhino. Spend your day here, with an experienced park ranger as you track the white Rhino in their natural habitat.

After the sanctuary, continue onwards to your luxury lodge on the Nile River inside the Murchison Falls National Park. Here, watch the sunset over the water as you enjoy your second night in Uganda.

MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

Begin your day with a breakfast before sunrise as you set out on your first big game drive.  Today you will discover the traditional luxury safari experience. Roam the plains in your Landcruiser, in search of the big five. After discovering the park and its inhabitants, return to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing cruise on the Nile river with the views of Murchison Falls.  Here, observe as the Nile River erupts into Lake Albert through the opening of only 7 meters. Next, follow your guide on an optional hike.  Discover incredible views from the top of Murchison falls. And finally, as the sun sets, relax by the fire after your luxurious dinner.

Enjoy the quiet ending of this fourth day of the Pearl of Africa journey in Uganda.

KIBALE NATIONAL PARK

Today you will make your way to Kibale National Park.  Along the way you’ll take in stunning country-side scenery.  During the day you will stop in small villages and have a chance to meet local residents, as well as share a meal.

In the afternoon, you will find yourself in a luxury lodge in Kibale National Park. Enjoy relaxation and dinner with a view of the Crater Lakes in this new part of the Country.

CHIMP TREKKING IN KIBALE NATIONAL PARK

Chimps are our closest living relatives – in fact we share 99% of our DNA with the chimp. On today’s adventure discover all the similarities in Kibale National Park. Departing from the visitor’s center, start out on a walk with the park rangers. Chances are you will quickly find several group members near the entry. You’ll spend the next few hours observing chimp families and their dynamics. It is important that you are totally healthy before engaging in this activity, as most of our diseases can be transmitted to our close cousins.

After lunch, spend the afternoon hiking to the brilliant crater lake or take a walk through the village.  If you’d like to explore the crater lake more, you can even take advantage of an opportunity to kayak on the crater lake.

In the evening, enjoy relaxation and dinner with a view as you watch the sunset over your luxury lodge!

QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

After a late morning breakfast, join your guide for the short journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park.  Check in your lodge and feast on a luxury lunch with the view of the African plains.

In the afternoon, as the sun slowly sets over the horizon, your guide will accompany you to an evening game drive.  Besides the big five, you will see countless buffalo and gazelle. Watch for the elephants in the forest, and keep your eyes peeled for the big cats slowly stalking out the night’s dinner.

You won’t need to hunt for your own food, as an expertly prepared meal will be served to you back at the lodge.  Finish your seventh night in Uganda by the campfire with your fellow travelers.

QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

After an early breakfast, enjoy another game drive. Watch the African plains awaken as the predators are out in full force and the prey are on high alert.  Along the way, your experienced naturalist guide will help you learn about the animals and their behavior.

Next, take in a leisurely lunch at the lodge and join a luxury boat tour to the Kazinga Channel.  The 32-mile-long waterway joins Lake Edward and Lake George and attracts a wide range of birds and animals.  In the Kazinga Channel, you’ll find the world’s richest concentration of hippos as well as countless crocodiles.  Observe as the animals jockey for supremacy on this unique luxury boat tour. At the end of the evening return back to your lodge and the evening’s meal.

BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST & TREE CLIMBING LIONS

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before you set out to the journey to your next destination – the Bwindi National Park. As you travel over scenic roads, stop in the Ishasha sector of the Queen Elizabeth National Park.  This is the home of the tree climbing lion. Although all lions can climb trees, some are more likely to do so (a combination of environment and genetic makeup). The prides that live here are known for this behavior – so keep your eyes peeled for the heavy predator resting high upon the branches.

In the afternoon, arrive in the luxury lodge of the Bwindi National Park. Biwindi is one a few places in the world still inhabited by wild mountain gorillas. Today’s journey brings you to one of the highlights of the Pearl of Africa tour – the Gorilla trekking adventure.  Enjoy dinner and rest well for the big day tomorrow.

BWINDI NATIONAL PARK - GORILLA TREKKING

Few of the world’s adventures can come close to tracking gorillas in Uganda’s jungle.  Today, only 880 mountain gorillas live in the wild. Fourteen of the families live in Kibale National Park.  Finding the mountain Gorilla is no easy task. After a breakfast and a morning briefing, begin your trek into the mysterious “impenetrable” forest. Follow an experienced ranger for several hours.  Eventually, you will find gorilla families that are open to being viewed. They are well-aware of your presence and some may even interact with you. As you quietly observe them from a safe distance of at least seven meters, you will notice all the ways in which they are so similar to us.  After all, we share 98% of our DNA with the mountain gorillas.

Finish up this bucket list worthy day back at the luxury lodge. Book an optional massage and relax over a delicious dinner served at sunset.

LAKE BUNYONI

A truly great journey is one that changes you for the better.  This morning you might feel such a change as you fondly recall yesterday’s incredible gorilla encounter. As you mull over your experiences, gaze out of the window.  Today’s drive will take you to Lake Bunyonyi, the second deepest lake in Africa. Named by Churchill the “Switzerland of Africa,” the scene is picturesque. You will see green hills that surround the lake and local people farm using traditional tools.

In the afternoon enjoy a canoe ride to some of the 29 islands of Lake Bunyonyi.  Along the way your guide will share with you the history and the cultural heritage of this area.  Spend the late afternoon relaxing by the lake and the evening in your luxury lodge in Lake Bunyonyi.

LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

After the morning breakfast in Lake Bunyoni luxury lodge, you and your guide will move to your next location - Lake Mburo National Park.  This compact park is home to a wide variety of species. Over 300 birds live here, and the rare African leopard makes a home here as well. Arrive to the lodge midday in time for lunch!

In the afternoon get back out on the safari adventure and explore the Lake Mburo National Park.  The leopard is a nocturnal animal so watch for the hunting leopard after dusk. Make it back to your luxury lodge in time for late dinner and conversation around the campfire.

LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

A unique Uganda adventure awaits you this morning.  Today you’ll get to ride on horseback or a bike with the zebras.  Explore the African plains as few others get to see, from this vantage point the views are striking and the memories you’ll make today will last a lifetime.  If you don't enjoy horseback riding, take advantage of a walking safari, biking safari, or even a massage back at the lodge!

Spend the afternoon soaking in the infinity pool overlooking a famous watering hole.  From here observe the animal interactions as the sun slowly sets over the horizon. Dine at the luxury lodge and enjoy a good evenings rest in the Lake Mburo.

THE EQUATOR & RETURN TO KAMPALA

After a late breakfast this morning in Lake Mburo, start your day with a drive to the Equator, the exact point where the Southern and Northern hemispheres meet.   In this fun stop you’ll have a chance to explore a local village and pose for pictures with one foot in the northern hemisphere and one in the south.

Next, drive back to Kampala, the country's capital where you started your journey.  Enjoy another night and dinner in your luxury hotel.

It's time to say "so-long" after your complete 15 day adventure! You will always be welcome back to Uganda-The Pearl of Africa!

MWERABA (GOODBYE), UGANDA

Mweraba means goodbye in Lugandan.  Today your guide will drive you back to the airport where you will have a chance to say Mweraba.  We hope you enjoyed the Pearl of Africa tour and we would love to see you back again soon – in this beautiful African country, our home, Uganda.
